Dalius Čekuolis takes office as Foreign Vice-Minister of Lithuania
On 21 November, the career diplomat Dalius Čekuolis took office as the new Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. D. Čekuolis replaced the former Foreign Vice-Minister Darius Skusevičius, who has been appointed as the Ambassador of Lithuania to Canada.
The new Foreign Vice-Minister is responsible for shaping and implementing security policy, deepening transatlantic, bilateral and multilateral cooperation with foreign countries and regions; strengthening Eastern Partnership, expanding bilateral and multilateral relations with Eastern European countries, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as issues of public diplomacy.
Prior to the appointment, D. Čekuolis was Lithuania's Permanent Representative to the UN, served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to France, Portugal, Denmark, and Belgium. The Lithuanian career diplomat has also served as the Undersecretary and Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
