Photography Exhibition Opens to Mark the Inauguration of the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate in Starigrad

On March 21, Eduardas Borisovas, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Croatia, inaugurated the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate in Starigrad, headed by entrepreneur Marija Koić Pašić. To commemorate the occasion, the exhibition "Vilnius in Old Photographs" was opened at the City Lodge of the Zadar National Museum.

The Lithuanian Ambassador highlighted that Koić Pašić's experience in the tourism sector will contribute to strengthening human relations between Lithuania and Croatia and promoting tourism exchanges.

"We are pleased that the Lithuanian Honorary Consulate in Starigrad will continue its work and uphold its traditions. At the same time, we are saddened by the loss of former Honorary Consul Rima Koić and extend our condolences," said Ambassador Borisovas.

At the exhibition's opening, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of Vilnius for Lithuania’s statehood and national identity.

"Vilnius is the historic capital where Lithuania's statehood flourished, where independence was restored in 1918, and where we regained our independence on March 11, 1990. Through this exhibition, we wish to present to you the eternal Vilnius, where the cultures of many nations are intertwined," Borisovas stated.

The exhibition's curator, Renata Peroš, along with Dina Bušić, Head of the Department of Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Zadar, and Honorary Consul Marija Koić Pašić, also addressed the event.

Organized by the National Museum of Lithuania and the Embassy of Lithuania in Croatia, the exhibition offers a glimpse into Vilnius in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, showcasing its rich multicultural history.

The Vilnius in Old Photographs exhibition will be on display at the City Lodge of the National Museum of Zadar until April 1.

Currently, there are two Honorary Consulates of the Republic of Lithuania in Croatia - one in Starigrad, Zadar County, and another in Dubrovnik.
